Im in
a very good mood so im going to tell you guys the main reason why i was able to
catch this fish.
A youtube video popped up on my feed about how the carp fishing company called "Korda" has just came out with their own glugs. Glugs are basically watery liquid OR syrup that you apply on your bait. The reason why "Korda" developed their own glug is because the South Africans keep winning the "National Carp Championship", and their secret was the use of glugs.
The website called http://www.underwatersecrets.co.uk/ has given me VAST knowledge of carp behavior and fishing. So much that EVERY VIDEO they have put out has helped me immensely. On top of that, the average length of each video is 2 minutes long so it is very easy to take in. Anyways their last video showed how carp would always strike at the glugged bait, regardless if there are a ton of non glugged baits in the area.
Then i seen more videos on why more syrup type glugs are better because they surround the whole area with a colorful scent
So i havent caught a carp at one of my favorite locations for SIX MONTHS using my hair rigged white bread ball. I am going to regret telling my secret but i rather inspire than to post a big fish and gloat about it. I bathed those hair rigs with strawberry syrup, and casted it out. An hour later and a school of about 15 males rushed my swim, and i have never seen this before, and i think the fat female of the group striked my bait.

Anyways,
had a great time catching carp like always. Caught about 18 Carp in 3-4 hours
of fishing using a hair rigged bread ball, but most of them were about a pound,
ranging from less than a pound to around 5 lbs.
Strange enough, most of my fish were hooked on the chin. I think what was happening is there would be a feeding frenzy around my hookbait, and eventually one of them would get hooked. The rest of the fish were hooked normally on the lip.

Caught a few more
Had a few hours to spare so I decided to go fishing one
late afternoon and maybe try some fly fishing.
I noticed there wasn't as much sunning carp as usual so I decided to use my corn set-up instead of going straight to fly fishing. I caught 7 of them all around 6-7 lbers, but I wish I hooked into those 15+ lbers I could see sunning. I got a lot of bites and missed a lot, which could be those irregularly small carp I used to catch last summer.
So after an hour of that, I decided to try fly fishing since more sunners and roaming carp were showing up. It was a disaster to begin with, because I noticed I couldn't even see my fly when I dipped it in the water because the water visibilty was like a foot. Also, I'm halfway or a quarter way up the hill, like in the picture shown, and I keep snagging onto the hill behind me; so complete fail.
On a positive note, at least I managed to hook into a few, and I'm a lot more comfortable casting with a fly rod; unless there is an obstruction behind me.

Carp Snagging
*I don’t
condone to snagging fish anymore, BUT I believe all the fish I released back
after being snagged were unharmed. Believe it or not, nearly all fish I have
hooked in the mouth or foul hooked from still fishing almost always resulted in
blood in the mouth or on the chin area, whereas none of the carp I snagged drew
no or very little blood*
So
first time I accidentally snagged a gigantic 18 lber, casting all the way to
the other side... I've also heard there are tons of carp on the other side
Second day, I walk all the way to the other side where there's a huge hill, and see no fish
third day, I go there again and the weather is a lot warmer, and I see hundreds of them, but none of them will eat bread
fourth day, I try a bait that has caught me lots of carp at this place, corn....but it still doesn't work...so now I'm angry and try snagging them, and caught huge scales, and dropped my keys in which I had to search for them for an HOUR
fifth day, my mind is set on snagging, and I made a rig specifically for it. By the way I can't tell you how many times I fell down this damn hill and being seen by other people that are fishing, but I really didn't care because they didn't catch anything anyways. I ended up catching 6 in an hour, and probably fell down the hill 6 times that day but it was worth it. The absolute best part of it was, I have NEVER seen carp jump so high while being hooked. They were easily jumping 3 feet off the surface and trying to shake the hook off their tale, it was an amazing sight to see. Not only that, but the fish would never give up unlike being hooked in the mouth. It was like I was hooking steelhead on crack. Too bad I couldn't get the jumping on film...

18 lb common carp
The
only reason I showed up to a Columbia River backwater was because a fortune
cookie told me to take a risk today.
The video below is footage of me fighting the fish including landing it. On my youtube channel, there is a longer version of me fighting the fish, in which the footage is I think around 12 minutes long? In all honesty though, it took me 20 minutes from start to finish. USUALLY carp between the 15 lb to 19 lb range take the longest. As John Montana likes to call them, the APEX ATHLETES.

Epic Carp fishing!
Here
is a nice Carp I caught sight fishing with my corn rig! Definitely the
strongest sight fished Carp I ever caught so far, and she made my fishing reel
sing! Another thing I love about this Carp is that I caught this one during the
hardest Carp fishing month ever: DECEMBER!!!!!!!!!!! Sight fishing for Carp is
the most nerve wracking thing you can do that will TEST your patience. I
managed to land 6 of these babies:
On
another fishing trip, I had an even MORE EPIC day than the sight fishing for
carp last December. I caught over 20+ Carp at Kelley Point Park!!!!!! So far,
I've only caught more than twenty carp on one other trip, and that was at
